Spring time in Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga located between the mountains of Southeast Tennessee and along the beautiful Tennessee River, is one of America's most impressive cities.
Even New York Times named Chattanooga one of the "Top 45 Places to go"
in the World.

Walnut Street Bridge was built in 1890 and at the 2,376 feet (724 m) is the world's longest pedestrian bridge. It connects downtown Chattanooga with the North Shore.

The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel it was once the train station.
Opened in 1909 as Terminal Station this place served thousands of travelers during the golden age of railroads. Train travel declined after World War II, and Terminal Station was finally left vacant in 1970. And few years later Terminal Station was saved by a song - by a group of local businessmen who were under the impression of very popular song “Chattanooga Choo Choo”.
In 1941 Glenn Miller recorded “Chattanooga Choo Choo” song, written by the composers Mack Gordon (lyrics) and Harry Warren (music).
The lyric for this song tells the story of a man traveling south on a coal-burning train from Pennsylvania Station in New York, through Baltimore and arriving in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he will meet up with his girl.

During World War II Operation Chattanooga Choo-Choo was a 1944 mission in which British and                                      American aircraft systematically bombed German railroads.

Across from the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel there is the English Rose tearoom
small place open for lunch with authentic English menu.
We had  a pot of Lady Grantham tea which was very good - it was a tea of the day.
I purchased some of this tea to take home and now keep trying to make a copy of this.

Coolidge Park Antique Carousel - this 123 year old antique carousel was restored by the local
wood carver Bud Ellis and a group of craftspeople and volunteers
in his studio "Horsing Around". All 52 animals are hand carved.
This carousel gives people of all ages the joy of riding for only $1.0

Challenger STEM Learning Center is a memorial to the Challenger Crew.
The space shuttle “Challenger” exploded after take-off from the Kennedy Space Center
on January 28, 1986.
Challenger Learning Centers were developed as a memorial to the seven astronauts who died and to the goal of educating students in STEM: science, technology, engineering, and math.
The Chattanooga center was built with contribution from Dick Scobee's widow, who lives in this area.
There are now 45 this kind of center around the world. The first integrated into a university was on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
