The
historic Riverside Cemetery is located in the Montford Historic
District of Asheville. It was founded in 1885 and planned as a garden
style cemetery.
The
87 acres of hillsides are filled with beautiful trees and shrub, and
graves, beautiful sculptures and mausoleums. This cemetery is a resting place of many prominent citizens, including the famous authors Thomas Wolfe and O. Henry.
The Buchanan Angel is one of the most famous sculptures at this cemetery.
Tia angel was imported from Italy and was installed by W.O. Wolfe, father of Thomas.
