The sequoia trees forest in Kings National Park.
This forest is not very dense, with crowns of trees at heights. This forest is bright and sometimes you can see the sun. Simple, huge cinnamon-brown tree trunks contrast against the dark green other trees.
"Giant sequoias are a fire adapted species. Their bark is fire resistant and fire helps open the sequoia cone and scatter the tiny seeds. Fire also clears forest debris from the mineral soil and provides a nutrient rich seed bed as well as clearing competing species."

The General Grant tree is the second largest sequoia in the world. This 3000 year old tree stands in Kings Canyon National Park. General Grant tree measures almost 270 feet tall and 107 feet around at its base (nearly 29 feet wide at the base).
Nicknamed "the Nation's Christmas Tree", annual holiday services are held at the base of the tree.
